Check your Air Filter – Many car problems are due to faulty air filters attached to them and the wear caused by them. You should get your filters changed every 12 months or after 5000 – 9000 Kilometers.
Inspect Fluids and Tire Pressure Regularly – This is something which you shouldn’t ignore or delay at any cost. They are the main components of your car especially your engine oil. One should always pay attention to their fluids and tire pressure regularly
Check your Battery – Never ignore your low battery sign and always get it checked regularly. Check for leakage or any mineral build up around it. Clean it with a battery cleaning brush and do this whenever necessary. Check battery water levels and if your battery is maintenance free regular check that the green light is showing as it is a sign of a strong battery.
Change your Spark Plugs – Change your Spark Plugs if you notice that your engine is not working efficiently. They often wear out after sometime and it wise to consult your mechanic on the status of your spark plugs. Check and get them replaced if needed.
Get your Tires Rotated and Balanced – This is the easiest trick in the book to prevent wearing of tires and make them last longer, and the trick is to get them rotated once in a while. All tires do not wear at the same amount. So by rotating the front and rear tires, you balance the wear and make them more durable. Ensure your car tires are always perfectly aligned as non-aligned tires can make you lose control of your car and cause accidents.
Use Good Fuel – Fuel makes a big difference in any engine. Use the best, high-octane fuel you can find to make sure your engine runs at its peak. Good-quality fuel will keep your engine from developing a buildup of corrosive sludge that could ruin your engine or its components.
Inspect and Replace fan Belt – Inspect and Replace fan belt if need be. Thoroughly inspect your fan belt and check for wears or small tears. If these belts fail, they can cause damage to the other accessories or render you stranded if it cuts while you are on the road.
Ensure the Working of the Cooling System – Ensure your cooling system is properly functioning, the hoses which carry the engine coolant can damage very quickly as they transport high-pressure fluids, which can break if the pressure is too high. Also, the heater hoses face the same problem as they carry hot coolant to the passenger compartment. Get them checked regularly.
Check your Brakes – Check your brake pads if you feel your cars breaking has changed over time. This could be an indication that the pads are work out. Ensure you check your brake pads regularly preferably at every service to ensure the pads are not completely work out as this may result to damaging your break disk.
Keep it covered – Keep your car covered or park under a parking shade and out of the reach of the sunlight and helps your cars paint from getting sun damage. This will keep your cars paint looking good and new for a longer period of time. So cover your car when not in use and try to keep it in your garage/parking shade whenever you can.
